The cycle path

The Valsugana cycle path is certainly the most beautiful in Trentino. For the variety of the route, the panorama offered, and for the services along the way.

It runs from Pergine Valsugana (and in the future from the capital city of Trento) to Bassano del Grappa (and further towards Venice). A real treat for two-wheel pedal enthusiasts.

From the Pergine Valsugana railway and intermodal station to the historic wooden bridge over the Brenta river in Bassano del Grappa, it is exactly 85 km that can be covered in about 5 hours. A few more if the ride is particularly slow or leisurely. The route is very picturesque and leads through various different landscapes, such as the lakes of Caldonazzo and Levico, the river Brenta, green meadows or cultivated fields, and steep mountain slopes.

Nature is exuberant, long stretches untouched, while the others are enhanced by man’s work.

A truly beautiful, important route, rich in nature and also in history, art, life lived.

The austere, oppressive Valsugana seen from the bike is beautiful and sweet, the canyon of the Canal del Brenta truly evocative.

Cities and towns full of history, which, crossed by bicycle, reveal their most correct dimension: the very elegant Borgo Valsugana, the romantic Bassano del Grappa, the gritty Cittadella, then Padua and Venice for which no comments are necessary, without forgetting the infinite sequence of small villages and country towns.

There is no shortage of evocative places too: the expanses of apple trees between Caldonazzo Levico and Borgo, the small Church of San Silvestro, Olle with its spectacular view of Borgo castle, Castel Ivano, the Bigonda grotto, the Oliero caves, Sant’Eusebio and Ca’Michiel in Bassano, the Brenta riverbed between Bassano and Carmignano, the Lobia countryside of San Giorgio in Bosco and Piazzola sul Brenta.

The cycle route, in its entirety, is very complex, with the possibility of several variants, including some sections of dirt road, for adventure lovers.

The return trip (from every point along the cycle path) is very convenient, with trains running every hour.
